As you may be aware, QubeGB’s first apprenticeship scheme was recently launched. Through the programme, our six apprentices have been buddied with an existing engineer and are working in the field whilst undertaking an IT and Telecoms qualification. After completion of the year-long apprenticeship, it is hoped the apprentices will join our Field Engineering team.

We recently caught up with one of our new apprentices, Albert, and asked him about his time with QubeGB thus far:

“My apprenticeship journey started when I began a two week training course with the first week taking place at QubeGB’s third party training provider, PQMS in Coventry and the second in QubeGB’s Stevenage offices. The training provided an introduction to telecommunications and widened my view and knowledge in such a vast sector of work. The training was very useful; it prepared me for work by teaching vital skills and essential knowledge for the job. It was also entertaining.

After returning from the training, I started installing ultra-fibre optic with the fibre crews and fellow apprentices. I really enjoy the work – I find it fun and every job is different. This keeps me interested and makes me want to exceed in every aspect of my job, and succeed in achieving the best career within QubeGB. The engineers were very helpful as they taught me the tricks of the trade and ensured I was learning all the time, by making the techniques very clear and getting me involved straight away.

QubeGB have been a great employer; they have made sure I have had everything I need and continually check in with me making my time working for them a happy experience”.
